Tetra Pak, the world leader in food processing and packaging solutions, is investing in the period 2019-2021 to develop the production of paper straws, non-removable lids and other solutions to replace fossil fuel-based plastic products, it says The company's 2019 Sustainability Report.
Tetra Pak's strategy for the development of the sustainable packaging portfolio involves an investment of 80 million euros, between 2019 and 2021. The company has been involved in sustainability actions for over 20 years and announces that, since 2010, it has saved, in total, the equivalent of 10 million tonnes of CO2, throughout the value chain, in order to achieve the objectives of reducing carbon emissions by 2020.
Tetra Pak works closely with customers and suppliers to provide safe, innovative and environmentally friendly products. It has thus concluded recycling partnerships with companies such as Veolia with the aim of accelerating the global recycling of beverage carton packaging. Since 2012, the company has invested 20 million euros to support collection and recycling infrastructure. In addition, it has created 45 new positions within the company to support the collection and recycling of cardboard packaging globally.
Tetra Pak is a multinational company based in Sweden. It has approximately 25.000 employees in over 85 countries, and its products reach consumers in over 160 countries. In Romania, last year alone, it delivered over 148 million packages that were used in the milk distribution program in schools.
