Interview given by Mr. Ciprian Brebeanu, co-founder of the Nova Pan company, Ziarului Financiar

• Mr. Brebeanu gave an interview to Ziar Financiar, within the project "Brașov inspires you!" supported by Banca Transilvania.

Mr. Ciprian Brebeanu, co-founder of the Nova Pan company, gave an interview to BBC inside the project "Brașov inspires you", where he discussed the evolution of the company and the challenges encountered in his field of activity.

The Nova Pan story began in the 90s, when the young Ciprian Brebeanu, inspired by the time he spent on a construction site in Turkmenistan, where he actively participated in the construction of a refinery, but also by the business opportunities and the need for financial stability in an economy difficult, he decided to establish his own company.

The Nova Pan company, founded in 2001, debuted on the Romanian market by importing and distributing equipment intended for bakeries, patisseries and confectioneries, the founders of the company subsequently wanted, to ensure the stability of the business, to diversify the activity by opening a store specialized in accessories and utensils, Confectioner Isteț, and also investing in the production of consumables for the same industry, such as clipband for sealing bread bags.

This step was crucial in the company's evolution and to avoid excessive dependence on customer investments, a necessity especially in an economic context affected by geopolitical instabilities and fluctuations in consumer behavior. “We have tried to avoid total dependence on customer investments in equipment. For this reason, we diversified our business, created a production department and launched the Cofetarul Isteț online store, which includes over 10.000 products in the portfolio", explained Ciprian Brebeanu during the show "Brașov inspires you!".

Brașov - a beneficial location

Mr. Brebeanu emphasized the fact that Brașov, the city where the company is located, is an important economic and industrial center, offering a favorable framework for business development. However, in order to really support the development of local companies on international markets, a more coherent national strategy is needed to support the promotion of Romanian products at the global level.

Over time, the Romanian bakery and pastry market has been significantly modernized, supported by European funds and increasingly strict requirements regarding hygiene and product quality. Nova Pan was part of this evolution, installing equipment at many of the big factories in Romania.

Today, Nova Pan Group has a team of almost 70 people and has a modern headquarters in Brașov, with an area of ​​4.000 square meters. In addition to the equipment imported from approximately 40 international suppliers and distributed in the Romanian profile market through the brand NovaEquipment Pane, also in the same location, under the Nova Pan Line brand, the company from Brošov also produces consumables for the food industry. At the same time, only approximately 15-20% of the customers of the Cofetarul Isteț store are individuals, the rest being bakery, pastry and confectionery businesses.

For the immediate future, Nova Pan Group has ambitious expansion plans, targeting the markets of Bulgaria and Hungary, with the potential to expand into Central Europe by 2025. However, exporting remains a challenge due to the lack of a recognized country brand , an aspect that Ciprian Brebeanu considers crucial for international success. This causes the products manufactured in Romania to encounter barriers in their recognition and appreciation on foreign markets.

The ability to innovate is an important advantage

In a highly competitive sector, the ability to innovate and reduce environmental impact becomes a significant advantage. In this sense, Mr. Brebeanu emphasized that Nova Pan Group is open to new technologies that reduce the impact on the environment and increase the efficiency of production processes. Digitization is a vital component in this sense, being essential for optimizing resources and increasing competitiveness.
