Cookies and checks, the most ordered Christmas desserts

• The winter holidays represent that time of the year when cookies and checks are consumed more than ever. Even biscuits, gingerbread or walnuts filled with chocolate ganache are not avoided by Romanians in the cold season.

In December, sales increase a lot, even by 25% compared to a normal month, as is the case of confectionery Zexe Brasserie. Ana Consulea, confectioner and owner of Zexe Braserie, told news.ro that in 2018 the artisan confectionery sold 800 syrupy cakes and 500 classic cakes. For this year, the estimated production is higher - "we aim to produce 1.000 syrupy muffins and 600 classic muffins. This is the maximum production capacity for cozonaci, being an artisan confectionery laboratory. On average, three muffins are ordered per family. The pastries from Zexe Brasserie also end up on the tables of Romanians abroad", declared Ana Consulea.

The most ordered Christmas dessert is the cozonac, both in terms of volume and value. The next sweet dish preferred by Zexe Brasserie customers is the cake (classic, with chocolate and candied orange, with citrus, etc.), then the gingerbread decorated especially for Christmas, the nuts filled with chocolate ganache, assorted biscuits and combinations of 12 cakes.

"We have a limited number of cupcakes, so we encourage our customers to order ahead of time. We receive the last orders by December 20", Ana Consulea also declared for news.ro.
