Arsis Group opened the first LA ROMANA gelateria in the Afi Cotroceni shopping center in Bucharest. The Italian artisanal ice cream brand, with a tradition of over 70 years, entered the Romanian market in a franchise system. Of the 90 existing flavors, only 28 are available in our country. The taste is the same as in Italy, some of the ingredients being brought from the peninsula itself.
The financial investment was approximately 350.000 euros, of which 240.00 euros were directed to the purchase of equipment. The Arsis Group wants to obtain the exclusivity of the LA ROMANA brand, and in the future to open other locations in Bucharest and the province.
"Romanian customers' appetite for artisan gelato is growing, so the decision to invest in this business was dictated by the market. Besides, opening an artisan gelato shop is an older idea, but one that was waiting for the right moment for implementation. I chose to invest in the franchise THE ROMAN, primarily for taste. I traveled to Italy several times to taste and visit various gelaterias, and the taste and diversity of the LA ROMANA assortments impressed and convinced me. Then, the concept of this brand, from the furniture to the way of presentation and serving, is unique in its elegance and rigor. And the fact that La Romana ice cream has passed the test of time and is so loved all over the world was an additional argument", declared Radu Mirea, majority shareholder of Arsis Group.
Besides ice cream, in the own laboratory of the point of sale in Afi Cotroceni other artisanal desserts are also prepared: cakes, crumbles, pancakes, biscuits, gelato-based pastries. All are prepared from high quality natural ingredients: milk, eggs and butter from local organic farms, artisan whipped cream, fresh fruit, organically certified natural jams, seeds and dried fruit brought from Italy. Each assortment is produced in small quantities, so that the average duration does not exceed three hours.
The first ice cream parlor THE ROMAN was born in the historic center of Rimini, in 1947. The business is named after the founder's daughter, Romana. Although the business was later sold to master gelato maker Vito Zucchi and his two sons, they kept the name and brand values: tradition, research, innovation and emotion. Starting in 2013, LA ROMANA began its expansion in Europe, reaching more than 50 gelato shops today.
The Arsis Group is one of the oldest and largest independent retailers in the telecom market, having been established in 1991. In addition to businesses in this area, the group owns and operates three other Subway restaurants in the local market.
