The European Commission has modified the forecasts regarding the cereal production of the European Union member countries this year, and Romania is the state that has a major influence on these forecasts. The estimate for EU wheat production was revised up by around 3 million tonnes, from 143 million tonnes of light wheat in September to almost 146 million tonnes in early October. As for corn, a decrease of 2,3 million tons is expected.

For this year's maize crop, estimates have dropped to 14,89 million tonnes from 16,76 million tonnes, a downward revision of about 1,87 million tonnes.
According to forecasts from September 2019, the Department of Agriculture of the United States of America (USDA) anticipates for Romania a wheat production of approximately 8,6 million tons this year, and 14,3 million tons of corn, Coceral, trade association European, has more reserved expectations: 8,1 million tons of wheat and 11,5 million tons of corn, according to the report published in September.
