Euronext Grain Market Up – Corn Hits New Highs, Supported by Weather Conditions

• The Euronext stock exchange recorded a dynamic first session of the week, marked by a clear upward orientation of quotes.

Most contracts managed to break out of support zones, signaling a return to operator confidence in the context of current difficulties in agriculture.

Wheat Euronext September maturity was notable for returning close to last month's highs, while rapeseed exceeded the psychological threshold of €510/t for August maturity, moving away from the €500/t area. However, the main driver of the advance was corn, which reached a new contract high for November maturity, trading around €219/t.

These positive developments are mainly fueled by concerns about extreme weather conditions. The heat wave affecting European regions has heightened fears about production potential. Added to this, the significant reduction in cereal areas in France and Eastern Europe are factors that contribute to firm price support.

With harvest season in full swing in France, the results reflect the weather variations of recent months. Yields are uneven from one area to another, and localized rains are directly reflected in the quality and quantity of the harvest.

Internationally, geopolitical developments are indirectly influencing commodity markets. Oil prices have recovered to near recent lows, approaching pre-conflict levels, following progress in talks between Iran and the United States. US officials have mentioned the possibility of a final agreement within 60 days, which has brought some relief to markets.
