• Romania will participate in the International Olympiad of Trades WorldSkills Lyon 2024, where its talented young people will compete in various fields.
The young Romanian representatives, supported by the partnership between WorldSkills Romania, the business environment and the Ministry of Education, will participate in nine sections: Hotel Reception, Chef, Baker, Pastry Chef, Computer Network Cabling, Web Development, Computer Aided Design, Mechatronics and Integration Industrial Robots. In total, Romania will have 11 participants, pupils and students from cities such as Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Brașov, Dej and Tartășești.
Event, now in its 47th edition, is the most important global competition in vocational education and training, and will take place from September 10-15, 2024 in Lyon, France. The competition brings together young people from over 70 countries and regions, competing in 59 trades, from baking and graphic design technology to robotics and car mechanics. Approximately 1.400 young people under the age of 21 will compete, and the number of visitors is estimated at 250.000.

Romanian competitors in several sections
Each WorldSkills International member country can send one competitor or team for each section. Romania will have representatives in several sections, including:
- Hotel reception: Albert Iacoviță (Economic College "Costin C. Kirițescu" from Bucharest);
- Cook: Andra-Maria Huțanu (Technological Economic High School of Tourism Iasi);
- Baker: Mihai-Alexandru Stoica (Technological High School "Marin Grigore Năstase" from Tărtășești);
- Pastry chef: Natalia-Irina Mate (Technical College "Raluca Ripan" from Cluj-Napoca).
Experts from various fields, who are also the coaches of the young competitors many times, will evaluate the performances of the participants. Romania will also have experts in the competition, such as Larisa Ile – Association of Tourism Teachers and Mentors "Edu4Tourism" - for Hotel Reception, Executive Chef Kiss Florin – GIDE Association – for Chef, Ciprian Dinu - Bakery School Romania & Puratos Romania – for Baker and Cristina Oshan – Bakery School Romania & Puratos Romania – for Confectioner-pastry chef.
WorldSkills Romania is a non-profit organization founded in 2016, which supports excellence in trades and professional training, contributing to Romania's participation in regional, national and international competitions.
