• The Bimbo Group partners with a Dutch bakery startup to launch the world's first range of gluten-free and carb-free bakery products.
The largest bakery company in the world, the Mexican group Bimbo, became a shareholder of the Dutch company Zero Carb Company (ZCC) to increase the accessibility of its unique gluten-free and carbohydrate-free bakery products.
The Wageningen-based company is a joint venture of Bakker Wiltink – a third-generation baker who owns a state-of-the-art innovation laboratory to create products that benefit health and the planet – and Top BV Netherlands, an innovative developer based in Wageningen, company owned by entrepreneurs who invest in sustainable solutions.

The company was founded with the objective of facilitating a major and essential change in the daily eating pattern of consumers around the world. In this regard, ZCC has dedicated five years to the careful development of the range of breads, which are also rich in protein and dietary fiber, low in sugar and "super tasty".
The current trend in consumer behavior has essentially given bread a bad name. Bread, in its various forms, is rich in carbohydrates, whether it is made from refined flour or from whole grains. In addition to low carb, consumers also want ingredients they can recognize and products with less sugar and fat.
A range of special bakery products

The range caters to the growing group of people looking for healthier options, as well as those on a gluten-free, low-carb or keto diet. ZCC bread aims to bring consumers back to the bread category, now that it is also available in gluten-free and zero-carb, while maintaining its appealing taste.
In turn, the Group Bimbo brings to this partnership its advanced research and development capabilities, as well as its global footprint and extensive distribution network.
The partnership will enable ZCC to address new distribution prospects as well as further develop products for certain specific markets.

Wiltink will be the first operator to hold the license for the Benelux countries to market ZCC bread under its own brand "YAM!". Range of bakery products "YAM!" it's made with regular bread ingredients, but obviously gluten-free. Its structure and taste are the same as traditional bread, and it even has the same shelf life as other fresh breads. It can also be frozen without problems.
ZCC is open to licensing its technology to other partners who want to explore the possibilities for their markets.

With more than 143.000 associates in 34 countries, the Bimbo Group was recently recognized – for the seventh consecutive year – World's Most Ethical Companies, according to an analysis by Ethisphere, the world leader in defining and promoting ethical corporate standards.
Through the division Bimbo Ventures, the Bimbo Group continuously invests in technology and innovation to reduce the ecological footprint of food and to develop products that meet the ever-changing preferences of consumers.
