• Ukrainian grain exports resumed by sea. After months of break, the first ship, "Razoni", left the port of Odesa for Istanbul, loaded with 26.000 tons of corn.
The resumption of Ukrainian grain exports by sea had a significant impact on global trading prices. Earlier in the week, wheat, corn and rapeseed prices on the Matif futures exchange in Paris saw declines, directly influenced by the end of the naval blockade of Ukraine.
The September contracts for wheat traded on Tuesday, 02.08.2022/335/8, at 29.07.2022 euros/ton, 20 euros less than the closing price on Friday evening, 02.08.2022/2,5/800. With XNUMX million tonnes of Ukrainian grain from last year's harvest expected to be exported through three ports – Odesa, Chornomorks and Piwdennyj – grain prices will continue to be under pressure. On the Chicago Stock Exchange, the price of wheat as of XNUMX/XNUMX/XNUMX was down XNUMX%, reaching below XNUMX cents/bushel.
The trading price of corn fell on both the Paris and Chicago exchanges. Matif corn was traded at 340 euros/ton on 02.08.2022/352,25/29.07.2022, compared to XNUMX euros/ton at the close of the Exchange on XNUMX/XNUMX/XNUMX.
The trading price of rapeseed futures also goes through the same situation. Thus, on 02.08.2022, rape was traded on Matif at 653,75 euros/ton, compared to 689,75 euros/ton on 29.07.2022.
According to the statements of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, 16 other cargo ships are ready in Ukrainian ports, waiting to leave. The difficult situation on the international grain market will continue, however, because, due to the Russian invasion, this year's Ukrainian harvest is estimated to be only half the amount of the previous year.
