During the month of December 2019, the County Health, Veterinary and Food Safety Directorates as well as the Bucharest Municipality carried out 8.946 controls in the units of the agri-food industry that carry out activities in areas such as: the manufacture of milling products, bread and pastry products, other products food, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages as well as storage units - food, seeds, vegetables and fruits.
The controls were carried out at the national level and concerned aspects regarding the conditions of registration, authorization and operation of the units, the maintenance and hygiene of the spaces where food products are handled, processed as well as those for storing raw materials and finished products, compliance with the requirements of traceability and those regarding labeling, pest control, records of documents and information regarding the HACCP system.
As a result of the detected irregularities and the violation of the provisions of the legislation in the field of food, measures were taken to remedy the detected deficiencies and contraventional sanctions were applied in the number of 117 fines, in the total amount of 530.400 lei.
Following the checks carried out, a series of non-conformities were found, among which we mention:
- conducting food processing, storage and marketing activities in unregistered and/or unauthorized sanitary and veterinary units;
- failure to maintain the production, packaging, storage and sales areas in appropriate hygienic conditions;
- failure to ensure or record temperatures in production and storage areas;
- lack or non-compliance with self-control programs;
- the handling of some raw materials and food products in improper hygiene conditions;
- non-compliance with personal hygiene rules (lack of protective equipment);
– improper labeling or lack of traceability of some raw materials or food products.
Also, during the controls carried out in the units of the agro-food industry, samples were taken for the laboratory according to the procedures and the Surveillance and Control Program, tracking the presence and inclusion of some parameters regarding pesticides, contaminants, additives and prohibited substances within the maximum allowed values in food as well as sanitation tests necessary for the analysis of the degree of hygiene, samples sent for analysis to the assigned laboratories.
