Romania ranks second in Europe in the export of cereals

• Although in this commercial year Romanian cereal production was reduced, Romania remains in second position in the ranking.

Three weeks before the end of the agricultural commercial year 2022/2023 (1 July 2022- 30.06.2023), the dates Eurostat shows that Romania's grain exports have reached 7,4 million tons, which places Romania in the second position among European grain exporters.

The production of Romanian cereals in the previous commercial year was 18,8 million tons, our country also produces and offers for export common wheat, durum wheat, barley, malt, corn, rye, oats and sorghum.

The leader of the ranking remains France, as in the previous commercial year, with exports totaling 14,4 million tons, while the third position is occupied by Germany, with 6 million tons, followed by Poland with 3,8 million tons.

Romania ranks second in Europe

In total, the member states of European Union they exported 44 million tons, the same as last year, of which 31,2 million tons of wheat (of all types), 11% more than last year. The markets were Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria for wheat, China, Saudi Arabia and Jordan for barley and China, Korea and the United Kingdom for maize.

In the cereal categories, Romania kept its leading position in corn, with 1,9 million tons, representing 58,7% of the total amount delivered by the EU across its borders. For the export of barley, our country ranks third (1,1 million tons) after France (3,2 million tons) and Germany (1,5 million tons).
