• Artificial intelligence (AI) is gaining more and more ground in the daily lives of Romanians, marking an impressive evolution in a very short period of time.
According to the most recent study conducted by Reveal Marketing Research, the share of people using AI-based tools in their daily lives has increased from 47 % in 2025 at 68 % in 2026 – an increase of over 20 percentage points in a single year.
The research, conducted online between January 14–20, 2026 on a nationally representative sample of 1.000 respondents from urban areas (people aged 18 and over, internet users), reveals with a maximum margin of error of ±3,1% at a confidence level of 95% an accelerated adoption, accompanied, however, by a maturation of the perception towards this technology.

Young people and higher income groups at the forefront of adoption
Enthusiasm for AI is most pronounced among young people: 30% of respondents aged 18 to 34 consider artificial intelligence "very useful". Conversely, the share of those who recognize both the benefits and potential risks also increases – from 49% in 2025 to 53% in 2026. People with monthly incomes over 8.000 lei show the highest awareness of possible disadvantages (63%).
Trust in information provided by AI is declining
Although usage is exploding, trust in AI-generated content is experiencing a notable decline: the percentage of those who have "great" or "very large" Trust in the accuracy of the information provided by these tools dropped from 65% in 2025 to 55% in 2026. This caution reflects a maturation of Romanians' relationship with technology, notes Marius Luican, CEO of Reveal Marketing Research: “Accelerated adoption goes hand in hand with increased selectivity and greater awareness of the need for responsible use.”

How do Romanians use artificial intelligence?
The main areas of application remain general information search (83%), followed by workplace support (44%, up significantly from 31% the previous year) and education and learning activities (39%). The most dynamic increases are recorded in the chapter of professional support and personal planning & organization (from 19% to 30%).
The preferred interaction remains through written messages (77%, +11 percentage points compared to 2025), while 17% combine text with voice, and only 7% predominantly use voice commands.
Preferred platforms: ChatGPT dominates by far
ChatGPT remains the clear leader, being used by 83% of AI users, followed closely by Gemini (35%) and Microsoft Copilot (15%). Preferences vary by demographic: ChatGPT is the favorite choice of 25–34 year olds (92%) and those with incomes over 8.000 lei (89%), while Gemini attracts mainly the 35–44 year old segment (42%).

AI, an important ally in the purchasing process
A particularly relevant aspect for the market is the influence of AI on consumer behavior: 91% of users turn to artificial intelligence to search for information about brands and products (+9 points compared to last year), and 65% say that AI recommendations influence their purchasing decisions – a higher percentage among men (68%) and young people aged 18–24 (77%).
The most common ways AI makes shopping easier are:
- comparing products and prices (65%);
- summarizing or reading reviews (55%);
- offering personalized recommendations (41%, up from 33% in 2025).
Personalized recommendations are gaining popularity especially among 25–34 year olds (54%) and those with incomes between 5.001 and 8.000 lei (54%).

Conclusion: recognized utility, but with reservations
The Reveal Marketing Research study paints a picture of a Romanian society that is rapidly integrating artificial intelligence into multiple spheres of life – from work and education to consumer decisions – but does so with an increasing dose of realism and caution. As Marius Luican points out, AI is becoming "a useful and necessary tool, used in an increasingly personalized way", but its perception is evolving towards a balanced approach, which emphasizes responsibility and critical scrutiny.
