• Euronext quotations from 14.11.2022 for cereals register significant decreases. Despite some fluctuations that also showed slight increases, wheat has lost 35 euros per ton since the beginning of November. Corn is in the same situation.
La The Paris Stock Exchange, the month of November was characterized by significant price drops in wheat quotations, up to 325 euros per ton, and in corn up to 318 euros per ton. These decreases are registered against the background of the Kremlin's statements according to which the discussions with the United Nations, regarding an agreement to ensure grain shipments from Ukrainian ports, were constructive and that its implementation can be reached quickly, reports the press agency Reuters.
In order to extend the agreement on grain transport on the Black Sea, Russia, in discussions held on Friday, 11.11.2022, with UN officials, is demanding unconditional access to world markets for its own food and fertilizer exports. If it does not receive assurances that this requirement will be met, Russia threatens to cancel the agreement.
At the G20 summit, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says the removal of many barriers to Russian food and fertilizer exports was the result of cooperation between the United Nations, the United States and the European Union.
Antonio Guterres also states: "We must do more to alleviate the global fertilizer crisis. Fertilizer prices are up to three times higher than before the pandemic, and we are working to remove all obstacles to the free movement of Russian food and fertilizers on world markets."
The agreement on grain transportation on the Black Sea, concluded in July this year, facilitated the delivery of approximately 10,5 million tons of Ukrainian food, mainly grain. Ukraine requests that the extension of this agreement also include the ports of the southern Mykolayiv Oblast region, which before the Russian invasion provided 35% of Ukrainian food exports.
