• Euronext Stock Exchange – a week opening marked by extreme geopolitical volatility.

The grain market, like the entire universe of raw materials, is coming under major pressure this week from the armed conflict in the Middle East. Since Saturday morning, intense exchanges of missiles between the parties involved have affected port infrastructure, commercial ships and production areas. The Strait of Hormuz – through which about 20% of world oil trade, as well as significant volumes of liquefied natural gas, transits daily – is becoming the epicenter of concerns. Any partial or total blockage of this critical artery would amplify the costs of transport, agricultural inputs and, implicitly, inflationary pressure on global supply chains. Stock Exchange Euronext was characterized by massive purchases, especially for cereals, while rapeseed progressed more moderately.

Volatility is likely to dominate the coming sessions, with attention focused on developments in the Strait of Hormuz, energy market reactions and hedge fund behavior. For European producers – including Romanian ones – these price levels offer opportunities but also major challenges related to input costs (fertilizers, energy, transport). Staggered sales strategies and the use of Euronext instruments remain essential in such an uncertain environment.
