• The strong dollar strengthening is fading, providing an opportunity for prices to adjust upwards. In addition, internationally, renewed tensions between Ukraine and Russia are also a driving factor in price growth.
Grain and oilseed markets, however, remain volatile amid various macroeconomic and geopolitical elements. Both bullish and bearish, market movements are sudden.
Heavy rain is expected this week in France. However, autumn work has been able to progress well in recent weeks. Thus, FranceAgriMer, through his program Céré'Obs, posted the following data on Friday regarding the crop situation on November 11:
• wheat: 78% of the sown area, compared to 62% in the previous week and 83% on average so far;
• winter barley: 89% of the sown area, compared to 78% the previous week and 91% on average so far;
• corn: the harvest reached 71%, compared to 58% the previous week and 93% on average so far.
And Chicago prices opened the week higher after last Friday's rebound. However, this increase is not enough to offset last week's decline in both grain and soybean prices in the Chicago market.
