Euronext Grain Market

• Political instability in France and the accompanying budgetary problems are weakening the euro, which is influencing the grain market.

The euro/dollar pair tested the 1,1650 support level, in place since late August, yesterday. This gave a small boost to European grains earlier in the week. However, amid the federal government shutdown, the US dollar is also showing signs of weakness, which is rebalancing the market and bringing the euro/dollar back above 1,1700.

Earlier this week, still in a downward trend and marked by a global grain glut, wheat and corn prices are consolidating in anticipation of new directions.

Saudi Arabia yesterday formalized the purchase of 455,000 tons of wheat with 12,5% protein. Most of these volumes should come from the Black Sea, which keeps the price of these origins stable.

The price of rapeseed, on the other hand, recovered at the beginning of this week, reaching Euronext at €460/t for the November 2025 maturity.

American market

In this atypical period of trade negotiations with China and a federal shutdown, the US grain market is in a state of uncertainty. Prices have seen very little movement earlier this week.

Wheat prices are slightly down, with harvest pressure still being felt on spring wheat. Over 500,000 tonnes were exported last week, bringing the total of US wheat shipped since the start of the campaign to 10,2 million tonnes, up +17% from last year.

The corn market also registered a slight increase, while the situation for soybeans remains constant, with yesterday's stock market close to equilibrium. Unlike wheat and corn, soybean exports from the US at the beginning of the campaign are struggling. They barely reach 3 Mt after one month of the campaign, 15% less than last year. With a big absence among the destinations: China.

Without the Crop Progress report USDA, the market remains uncertain about the progress of the United States harvests, which at this point should be approaching 30% for corn and 40% for soybeans.
