• Between October 20-21, Host 2025, one of the most prestigious international fairs dedicated to hospitality and gastronomy, will host at Fiera Milano a new edition of the European Pizza Championship, an event that celebrates excellence in the art of pizza.
The unmistakable aroma of freshly baked dough, the heat of the fire and the energy of the master pizzaioli will transform Milan into a point of attraction for food lovers from all over Europe. Organized by the magazine Italian Pizza and Pasta and now in its 21st edition, the championship will bring together 60 master pizza chefs from nine countries – Italy, Austria, France, Germany, Albania, Sweden, Hungary, Bulgaria and Switzerland – who will compete in the classic pizza category.
Participants will be judged by a jury of renowned professionals: gastronomes, nutritionists, Michelin-starred chefs, master pizza chefs, bakers and food and wine journalists. This multidisciplinary approach will highlight both the impeccable technique and creativity of the competitors. A notable aspect of this year's edition is the growing presence of female master pizza chefs, who bring a fresh and innovative perspective to the competition.

Beyond the competition: trends, innovation and experience exchange
The European Pizza Championship is not just a competition, but also a vibrant platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge. Magazine Italian Pizza and Pasta has prepared a rich program of activities, including practical sessions on doughs, baking techniques and unique combinations between pizza and cocktails, as well as debates on new technologies and home delivery. A special moment will be the launch of the book Pizza (Re)Connection, written by Giusy Ferraina, journalist and jury member. The event will also include workshops led by personalities such as Lorenzo Econimo and discussions with established masters, including Valentina Laporta, Luca Di Benedetto, Giulia Vicini, Paolo Moccia, Graziano Bertuzzo and Giorgio Sabbatini.
"I would like to emphasize first of all the increasing participation of women: this year four female pizzaiolo masters will compete, three from Italy and one from Romania," said Giusy Ferraina, journalist at Italian Pizza and Pasta and jury member. "This presence reflects an increase in female involvement in the field, also supported by innovations such as lighter palettes, smaller flour bags and, of course, technologies that replace intensive manual labor, such as mixers. In terms of trends, this year we will see many vegetarian dishes and experiments with creams, for example asparagus or eggplant."
