Confectionery trends: Cakes and wines

 The restrictions that have emerged amid the COVID-19 pandemic have caused a change in the perspective of consumers regarding how to shop. Many have turned to online stores. The Taste Tomorrow study, carried out by Puratos Romania, revealed that regarding bakery products, customers want to know more information about what they want to purchase and can do so online, but the purchase is mostly made in physical stores.

Confectioneries have developed new concepts with the onset of the health crisis, but also according to customer requirements. The diversification of product portfolios meant the reorganization of business plans. This came bundled with complementary solutions and investments in digitization.

"The customers were the ones who asked us for something else besides the cakes we had for sale. It was a natural transition to selling other things that can be given as gifts. That's how we started selling books, toys and more recently, wines. We intend to complete this offer in the future with flowers", says the entrepreneur of the confectionery, Andrei Mortasifu.

The wines are new complementary products in the Andrei Confectionery offer. "The presentation of a product attracts. The color of the bottles, the fact that they are Italian wines, that they are sparkling wines, everything matters in the choices made by customers. People saw that these wines are not for sale in the big shopping centers. So I understand that they have a product in front of them that stands out. I recommend them with confidence because they are special and last for minutes in gift packages", explains Andrei Mortasifu.

Product innovation and diversity

Confectionery Andrei offers consumers the opportunity to indulge in cakes and pastries, toys, books and wine, which they can purchase at each location or order online.

"I strongly believe that we must not distance ourselves from the customer. Electronic orders don't allow us to interact much with it. When you have a person in front of you, you can give them recommendations. You can help her discover new tastes and aromas. If someone has not tried certain cakes when they come to us, they can taste the sweets. We pride ourselves on being able to carry out personalized sales, so that the customer leaves satisfied," says the entrepreneur.

Between tradition and passion

Andrei Mortasifu believes that patience, attention to details and customer needs, respect for the profession and the desire for continuous improvement are assets for the development of the business in a constant and natural way: "We always want to offer accessible products, not niche ones, at a medium price. We use natural ingredients, do everything ourselves and create authentic products that we can present to customers who will discover us and come back to us in the confectionery. I believe that any business should be relaxed. If you want a business and you go on the road with your family, you can grow your business over time".
