Despite higher prices than last year, caused by price increases in the production chain, the President of the Romanian Employers' Association of the Milling, Bakery and Flour Products Industry states that more than two million cozonacs will end up for export, in countries where there are large Romanian communities.
"The supply of cozonacs is higher this year, I think we exceed 7,5 million, but the best news is that we have a high export demand and I hope we will deliver two million cozonacs, especially in countries where there are large communities of Romanians.", declare for Agerpres Mister. Aurel Popescu.
He also adds: "The price of cakes is between 10 and 50-60 lei per kilogram at confectioneries, but here, in the industry, the prices are more moderate. I want to tell you that we have improved our assortment with all kinds of fillings. We also brought out a cake - Hohoho - which is filled with walnuts, apples and raisins or with chocolate cream and rum. We have orange and shit, walnut and raisin fillings. We have adapted to the taste of consumers."
The price of bread has stabilized
President breaker points out that the price of bread, compared to the period November-December 2021, is higher by more than 20%, but during this period it has stabilized, and during the winter holidays it will remain unchanged. At the same time, he states that the price of artisanal bread is higher than that of bread made in industrial units, because the production costs are also higher.
"However, for the November-December period, bread prices are higher with percentages between 21% and 23% compared to the same period last year. At cozonaci with less, because you can't have such an increase, although it is incredible as a bag in which you put the cozonaci to give 50 pennies compared to 5 pennies until now.
I don't know, but some people think they are taking advantage of the situation we are in and let's increase, increase, increase. Every week something increases. We will be forced to put the bag in the price of the bread. We have no other solution, as is the case with supermarkets. You took your bag, you pay", added Mr. Aurel Popescu.
