The Ukrainian market research company Pro-Consulting published a study showing that Romania was the largest buyer of chocolate products from Ukraine, with 4.900 tons of chocolate and cocoa products, followed by Hungary (2.600 tons) and Bulgaria ( 2.500 tons).
The study taken over by the Unian press agency mentions that last year Ukrainian producers increased their chocolate exports to the European Union by 22,6% to 41,2 million euros. Chocolate products account for 28% of the confectionery market in Ukraine and are exported to 50 countries. The study also states that confectionery products containing cocoa remained the most important segment, due to more affordable prices compared to bars made only from chocolate.
In Romania, according to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture, chocolate is among the agri-food products imported by our country that registered increases in 2018. Last year chocolate imports increased by 30,4 million euros.
