European cereal raw materials market

• Last week was marked by a continued decline in the euro/dollar exchange rate, which fell below 1,1500 again, before returning above this key level.

This easing of the common currency has brought some support to grain prices, thus partially offsetting the downward influence exerted by the Chicago market since the middle of last week.

As is the case every time a peace plan is considered in Ukraine, traders are finding a selling point for wheat. Ukraine is also facing unfavourable weather conditions this autumn. According to the latest figures published by the country's Ministry of Agriculture on 21 November, 12% of the sown area will still be harvested in 2025. This is mainly corn and sunflower, the volumes harvested so far of which do not exceed 20,8 million tonnes and 9,01 million tonnes respectively, according to official figures. Corn and sunflower prices are therefore still supported both in Ukraine and in Western Europe.

In the case of wheat, the market is falling under pressure from the harvests in Australia and Argentina. As for rapeseed, prices remain very volatile. After reaching a four-month high on Thursday, prices fell again on Friday. The February 2026 maturity closed again below €480/t at the end of the previous week.
