• Another case of overcharging in an Italian restaurant heats up the spirits on Social Media after the receipt received at the end of the consumption was posted.
After additional charging a cutting a sandwich in two, a portion of cake charged with 15 euros opens again the controversy of the controversial receipts. It happened in Pino Torinese, in a pizzeria. Fabio Bregolato, who lives in Rosta, together with a group of friends and relatives, makes a reservation at a pizzeria. He explains in a Facebook post that they were planning to celebrate a birthday.
Because the restaurant where he made the reservation did not serve birthday cake, Fabio admits that he was allowed to bring the dessert from outside the venue. However, things don't quite go as planned, with the Italian discovering to his astonishment that the cutting of the cake was billed to him for no more, no less than ... 15 euros.

Bregolato recounts: "We were ten people, excellent pizza and good service, but….. 15 euros to cut a cake brought by us was really an unpleasant surprise." A photo of the receipt is attached to the post: "They could overlook it, I have never in 40 years (and eaten quite a few pizzas) had a restaurant charge extra to cut a cake," add this one.
Fabio Bregolato claims to have warned about the cake: "The pizzeria couldn't make a cake, but said we could bring in a cake from outside."
Controversial erupted on social media, with some agreeing with Bregolato, while others pointing out that an extra service charge is expected. "It happened to me at Carmagnola", writes a lady, "I paid 2 euros for each slice of cake".

Owner's response
And here's what the owner also claims: “We have marked this service on the receipt and we are paying tax on this amount. It is a service and as such has a cost”.
He explains further: "The customer didn't even want to warn about the cake brought from home! When he made the reservation, he didn't say anything. When he arrived, he showed us the cake and said: "Will you take care of it?". Nothing else. We are not obliged to do this service, especially because we take a risk when we serve something that we do not produce. We are aware of this, especially as we specialize in products for celiacs and those with intolerances".

After making sure the cake was wrapped, they agreed to cut it and serve it: “But it was small, for six people at most and they were ten. The waitress took the cake to the kitchen and hardly managed to cut ten acceptable slices, she arranged them on the plate in a very beautiful way, precisely to give a pleasant appearance to the product, despite the small portions. In short, between cutting, arranging and serving the cake, it was 25 minutes, during which I could not get her to do anything else", emphasizes the owner.
