Bimbo Group expands its influence in Romania through the acquisition of Karamolegos Bakery

• Bimbo Group, the world leader in the bakery industry, consolidates its position on the Romanian market through a new strategic acquisition.

Mexican company recently completed the takeover of the local subsidiary of the Greek group Karamolegos Bakery Romania, owner of the KB brand, marking an important step in its expansion in Eastern Europe.

Karamolegos Bakery Romania, headquartered in Ilfov, reported a turnover of 2024 million lei and a net profit of 35,5 million lei in 3,3, with 74 employees. The company, part of the Greek group founded in 1950 in Santorini, produces and distributes packaged bread nationwide, benefiting from a solid market presence since 2009, the year of its launch in Romania.

With a presence in 34 countries and over 214 production plants, Grupo Bimbo is a giant in the food industry, known for the diversity of its portfolio, which includes sliced ​​bread, muffins, tortillas, bagels and pastries. In Romania, the company aims to combine its global expertise with local traditions, offering consumers superior quality products. The acquisition of Karamolegos Bakery Romania reinforces this strategy, allowing Bimbo to diversify its offer and capitalize on the recognition of the KB brand.

Bimbo is not limited to expanding its portfolio, but is also investing heavily in the modernization of production facilities and sustainability. In 2024, the company achieved with Vel Pitar the best financial results in its history, with a turnover of 841,4 million lei and a net profit of 124 million lei. These performances underline Bimbo's ability to optimize local operations and respond to consumer demands.

By integrating Karamolegos Bakery into its ecosystem, Bimbo aims to accelerate innovation in the bakery category, bringing new recipes and eco-friendly packaging to the market. The company recently announced investment plans of 30 million euros in Romania for 2025, aimed at modernizing factories and expanding the distribution network.
