Green Energy Funds

• State aid scheme to support investments in new electricity production capacities from renewable sources for self-consumption by enterprises in the agricultural and food industry sectors.

On 25 December 2024, Agency for the Financing of Rural Investments (AFIR) opened the session in which farmers and entrepreneurs in the food sector can submit projects for total funding of 150 million euros, to purchase solar panels, wind generators and green energy storage batteries, for the consumption of their respective farms and companies.

Investment projects for which funding is requested can be submitted online, on the AFIR website, during the funding application reception session which closes on February 28, 2025.

Available funds

The funds available for financing eligible projects submitted in this session amount to 150 million euros, divided according to installed capacities and renewable energy production source:

For the session corresponding to the years 2024 – 2025, the amount of state aid granted under the scheme reaches up to 100% of eligible costs. The non-reimbursable funds that a wind energy project can obtain are worth 700.000 euros/MW regardless of the installed capacity, and for solar energy the funds reach 550.000 euros/MW for installed capacities greater than 1 MW or 650.000 euros/MW for installed capacities less than 1 MW, inclusive.

Potential beneficiaries can submit several projects, only if the investments target different places of consumption, within the value of 20.000.000 euros per beneficiary.
