Germany produced almost a third of the chocolate manufactured in Europe in 2017, according to statistics published by Eurostat.
German factories produced almost 1,3 million tons of chocolate, i.e. 32% of European production. Germany is followed in this ranking by Italy, with 0,7 million tons, and in third place in the top are France and the Netherlands, which each produced 0,4 million tons.
Eurostat statistics show that the UK, Belgium, Poland and Spain are in the next places. These eight countries produced more than 90 percent of the chocolate manufactured in the countries of the European Union. In 2017, approximately 4 million tons of chocolate were produced in the EU, worth 18,3 billion euros.
