• On Friday, 7.04.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX, Romanian farmers launched a series of protests across the country, regarding the difficult situation they are facing.
Thousands of farmers took to the streets to protest their plight due to the influx of Ukrainian grain. The low prices of these grains have completely destabilized the market and farmers are incurring huge losses. At the same time, the wave of dissatisfaction is also directed against the prices charged by the large store chains for milk and dairy products.
Romanian farmers are protesting in the counties: Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Buzău, Constanța, Covasna, Galați, Iași, Maramureș, Olt, Satu Mare, Timiș, Tulcea, Vrancea and in Bucharest. They disrupted road traffic with tractors and agricultural machinery, which move at low speeds, in a column, in several areas of the country.

Minister of Agriculture, Petre Daea states that he is with the farmers considering this conjuncture right "a bad situation because of a decision of the European Commission".
"The Minister of Agriculture and the Government of Romania are with their problems, every time we have given the necessary support and we will continue to give it. It is a difficult time, in which the rattling of weapons created problems for Romanian farmers because of this influx of grain, which made our farmers unable to capitalize on their products or capitalize on them at low prices.
I had a discussion with the farmers, they told me the problems, which I knew, and I announced and explained to them that the amounts coming from the European Commission in the first installment are being put into motion immediately. These are derisory amounts, but this is still added to them from the state budget.
Today we published the normative act that establishes the method of granting amounts for farmers who had grain in stock on February 1. Not a cent is given to grain merchants. We are waiting for the additional amount from the EC, following the intervention of President Iohannis.
The money will reach the farmers in 29 days from the moment of approval of the GD in the Official Monitor, which is now under approval by the line ministries".

This shows us that, despite some small efforts, both the Government and the European Commission are involved in order to improve their situation and give them justice. A positive reaction from the officials will make these curses rise to the level of expectations.
