Mondelēz International has announced its commitment to use only cocoa for the company's chocolate brands through the Cocoa Life program by 2025.
This is a program that contributes to the positive transformation of the cocoa supply chain by increasing yields from existing farms and preventing deforestation. “As the demand for chocolate continues to grow, we want to achieve a thriving cocoa area, an essential ingredient for our growth. Through this program we are trying to convey to consumers around the world that they can trust that the chocolate brands they love are based on ingredients from verified sources," says President and CEO Dirk Van de Put. When the Cocoa Life program was launched in 2012, Mondelēz International committed to investing $400 million over 10 years to help create a cocoa supply chain by increasing productivity. More than 142.000 farmers are enrolled in the program, and Cocoa Life supports more than 1.400 communities to develop and thus obtain cocoa for 43% of the chocolate produced by the company. The program is applied in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Indonesia, Dominican Republic, India and Brazil.
