• Corn and wheat prices rose at the start of the week. For wheat, the price of SRW grades in the May 2025 contract reversed last week's decline, closing above $5,60/bu.
New crop prices have also been on the rise, driven by valuation reports. The outlook for winter cereals in France is improving slightly. The latest report CéréObs of FranceAgriMer shows the following levels on March 3:
– Soft wheat 74% "good to excellent", compared to 73% the previous week and 68% last year.
– Winter barley 70% "good to excellent", compared to 68% last week and 73% last year.
The latest USDA report shows that winter wheat conditions are deteriorating, with 52% of the crop now rated as "good or excellent", down from 54%. The rating also fell in Kansas, where 52% of crops were in good condition. "good to excellent", down 2 points from the previous week.
Monthly report of USDA, which will be published today, March 11, could bring changes to the figures. However, the situation remains very fragile, given the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the United States' trade relations with its main historical partners.
