Bimbo Romania: The global bakery leader reports solid results on the local market in 2025

• The Mexican group Bimbo, the largest producer of bakery products in the world, continues to consolidate its presence on the Romanian market.

Through the five local companies it controls, Bimbo recorded cumulative net sales of approximately 1,4 billion lei in 2025, up about 9% compared to the previous year. These results reflect both the adaptation to the demands of Romanian consumers and the continuous investments in production capacity and distribution network.

Bimbo operates in Romania through the investment vehicles BB Global Investing Holding SL and BBI QSR Holdings SL, fully controlling the following companies: Vel Pitar, Trei Brutari, Management Objectives, Click Top Management and Strategic Ventures. They cover a wide range of bakery products, from fresh and packaged bread to regional specialties.

The five companies employed an average of 2.999 employees in 2025, 96 more than in 2024, demonstrating a controlled expansion of the workforce. Although the cumulative businesses do not coincide with the consolidated ones (due to intragroup eliminations), the figure of 1,4 billion lei underlines the scale of Bimbo's operations locally.

Vel Pitar – the main engine of the group

Vel Pitar remains Bimbo's main platform in Romania. In 2025, the company exceeded the 1 billion lei net turnover threshold for the first time, registering an increase of approximately 13% compared to 2024. The result also includes the contribution of Karamolegos Bakery Romania, acquired and subsequently absorbed during the year.

Vel Pitar's net profit reached 91,3 million lei, and the net profitability margin stood at 8,86%. The company operated with an average workforce of 2.098 employees, slightly increasing.

Trei Brutari, with its factories in Târgoviște, Iași and Buzău, achieved net turnover of 181,6 million lei (a slight decrease compared to 2024). Net profit was almost 14 million lei, and the net profitability margin was 7,7%. The average workforce increased to 434 employees.

Management Objectives from Brăila reported revenues of 79,8 million lei (+2%), with a net profit of 6,7 million lei and a net margin of 8,49%. The company worked with 214 employees.

Click Top Management ended the year with a turnover of around 64 million lei (+2%), a net profit of 3,6 million lei and a profitability margin of 5,65%. The average number of employees was 164.

Strategic Ventures, with its factory in Dumbrăvița (Timiș County), generated revenues of 40,9 million lei (+2%). Net profit amounted to 840.738 lei, and the net margin was 2%. The company operated with 89 employees.

Evolution of other portfolio companies

Most of the portfolio companies registered modest turnover increases, but felt pressure on profitability margins, likely driven by raw material, energy and labor costs. However, the group's ability to maintain solid sales volume and create new jobs demonstrates a long-term strategy well anchored in the Romanian market.

Bimbo progressively entered the local market through strategic acquisitions – Vel Pitar in 2023, Trei Brutari and Strategic Ventures in 2024 – managing to build a diversified portfolio that covers both mass production and more specialized segments.

For the Romanian bakery industry, the presence of a global giant like Bimbo means both increased competition and high standards of quality, innovation and operational efficiency. The 2025 results confirm that the Mexican group has managed to consolidate its position as one of the most important players on the local market.
