• The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) requested companies in the bakery sector to implement good practices in product labeling and the use of food additives, in accordance with European and national requirements.
The aim of this initiative is to strengthen consumer confidence and ensure legal compliance. The message was sent during a meeting organized at the headquarters ANPC between the management of the institution and representatives of the associations BREAKING and ANAMOB, reports Agerpres.
According to an ANPC press release, the discussions focused on advising economic operators and clarifying legal provisions, especially EU Regulations no. 1169/2011 and no. 1129/2011. They regulate the correct labeling and use of food additives in marketed bakery and pastry products.

Among the main topics addressed were:
- Product labeling according to Regulation 1169/2011, which requires the provision of clear information about ingredients, allergens and nutritional values;
- Compliance with the conditions of use of food additives according to Regulation 1129/2011, which establishes the list of authorized additives;
- Increasing transparency towards consumers by providing complete and verifiable information about the products sold.
Sebastian Hotca, interim president of ANPC, emphasized the importance of active collaboration between the institution, economic operators and professional associations. "Compliance with the legislation is essential both for consumer protection and for strengthening confidence in the Romanian food industry. We will continue to offer support and advice to economic operators, but also to carefully monitor compliance with the rules in force", he said.
The representatives of ROMPAN and ANAMOB highlighted the challenges faced by the members of the associations and expressed their common desire to improve the standards in the bakery industry.
